Lecture Title:
Art, Poetry, and Blasting Broadsides

Come join the free lecture with Creative Ambassador Deborah Kennedy

In her lecture, "Art, Poetry, and Broadsides," Deborah Kennedy will begin with an overview of her art, highlighting her work on the Berlin Wall and her award-winning book, "Nature Speaks: Art and Poetry for the Earth." Then, she will focus on her recent venture as the Creative Ambassador for the City of San José —the Broadside Art and Poetry Project.

Today, broadsides are called posters, and we have created them since the development of the printing press. As part of her Ambassadorial project, Deborah is revitalizing this tradition to encourage the creative voices in her community. She is leading workshops where community members create their own broadsides using vivid watercolors and short poems. To conclude the lecture, she will feature the remarkable creativity of our community members' broadsides.

Date: Saturday, April 13, 11:30 to 2:30 PM
